Maddox {Nine Months}

Nine Month's Weight: 26lbs 6.5oz
Height: 28in
Size: 12 months clothes.  Size 4 diapers.

~Maddox got his first teeth this month.  His bottom 2 teeth came in at the same time and I noticed them on June 25.  He has one top tooth that has popped through and the one beside it is not far behind.  So we will have a little bunny on our hands very soon.
~First parade was 4th of July.  I think he enjoyed it... until the fire trucks.  He got the biggest pouty lip and then just started bawling :( It was pitiful...but of course I had to take a picture of it lol  There were 4 of them! and the sirens and horns were super loud so I completely understand.
~The helmet is off!  Woohoo! Got it off on July 9.
~Had his first bubble experience (July 3) and his expressions are always so sweet and excited.
~Eating puffs but so far has spit out other things we give him that aren't baby food.  We have to work on that. After I wrote that, he did have some stewed squash but he still doesn't care for it yet.
~Will drink water from a bottle but if he gets it from a sippy cup, he'll spit it out.
~Has 25-30oz of formula a day along with baby food 3x a day. (our budget will thank us when this slows down more!)
~He rolls everywhere, claps his hand, and has the best little squinty face grin.
~He's getting to be quite vocal but only says "mama" and "baba" or maybe it's "blah blah" lol idk
~He likes musical toys and he likes to pick toys up and shake them.
~He loves to jump.
~He likes to stand on our lap facing away from us and he'll just clap his hands and wave.
~He really enjoys when we sit outside but man oh man has it been too hot for that nonsense.
~Has learned to splash in the tub.
~Likes rough-housing with daddy.
~Likes to be upside down.
~Gave me my first super slobbery kiss on the day he turned 9 months old :)  Daddy had to wait a few days for his hehe

Here are lots of pictures :)

It's so crazy to see how much they change and how fast it is going.  I'm not ready for double digits!
Parade fun with my lovely long time friend and matron of honor :)

Maddox likes her too.... but who doesn't he like? lol (Grateful for that!)

Fishy face

Remember when I said he didn't like the fire trucks? He REALLY didn't like them! lol Bless....

The matching wasn't planned but it was 4th of July so blue was suiting lol

Just pure innocence and genuine excitement for all things.

His smoosh face grin.

I love this child....

LOVE this one!

This was like 1 out of 50 that I was trying to do by myself outside and he kept trying to grab pine needles and stick them in his mouth lol

If anyone wants to buy a back up giraffe (I call her Ginger) for Maddox... I found this one at Toys & Co. but they are out so you can get it on Amazon.  It's called Jellycat Fuddlewuddle Giraffe (Medium).  They have a big version at Toys & Co that I LOVE but there's no way on this earth I'm paying $75 for a stuffed animal.... um NO!

Trying to get better at reading to him everyday or a couple times a day since he's getting to the point where he will laugh at the pictures now. And of course he likes to put the board books in his mouth and tries to close the book as I'm turning the pages.

This baby LOVES to jump! And he makes so many great facial expressions when he's in there that I had to try and catch some of them.  He's already over the max weight for the jumper but oh well lol

I told you I love baby sleeping pictures :)  How can you not love that?

Story: So where I work, we have staff childcare (which by the way is such a huge perk!) if you work during certain shifts which I rarely work during those times so Maddox has only been a handful of times.  A couple of weeks ago, I worked those shifts both Thursday and Friday so I took him with me.  Thursday, he did great and actually took a nap which I was afraid he wouldn't and would be super fussy like he was the last time he went.  Friday, I dropped him off and was hanging up his diaper bag when one of the child care ladies walked in.  The other lady said "ohh! you're baby is here today!" and the lady was so happy which of course made me feel so much better about leaving him there.  Later that day, we had a fire alarm.  I knew the child care area had their procedures on getting the little ones out so I didn't really worry about it and just did my job with making sure everyone on my side was getting out of the building and where they needed to be out of the way.  When we came back in, one of my coworkers called me and said "I just had the best time with Maddox!" She had been working in the back so she was helping get the little ones out.  She was saying how he was just laughing and carrying on and making quite the spectacle of himself apparently.  He was in a rolling crib with his buddy Luke (our friend's lil' boy) and they were having a good time together.  I then heard from 2 other people about how adorable he was and everyone was coming up to see him (it's the thighs...).  But that definitely made me feel good.  The last time I had to take him there I was told that he was really fussy and just wouldn't nap so I was super apprehensive about having to take him anymore.  The end.... that story was more so I could remember it lol

Well....that's all I've got.  I had everything ready by the time he actually turned 9 months old but it takes forever to size the pictures and make collages.  But hey at least it's still July lol

Five on Friday

Another week has come and gone! Crazy how fast time flies.

Party Planning
Evidently, I'm the family party planner.  Right now, I'm planning a going away party for my brother's family as they prepare to move to Texas (halfway across the country! sheesh!).  I've never planned a going away party before.  Any fun suggestions?  I'd like to do something nice that they can take with them.  I was thinking of some way that people could write notes to them that they can take.  I guess I need to go search around on Pinterest.  I only have 2 weeks left and the party is on a tight budget.

Speaking of Party Planning
I can't believe I have to start thinking of a first birthday party already.  This makes my heart hurt! I'm trying not to think about how fast Maddox is growing up but I know I also have to plan ahead for certain things.  I'm of course going to go with a baseball theme for this first one.  I just have to figure out where to have it.  Our house is definitely not big enough and it's toward the end of October so you never know what the weather is going to be like.  Plus we will be going to the beach earlier that month so I need to keep costs super low.

Sometimes it's hard to juggle everything.  Keeping Maddox, working part time, trying to get my business going, and having time for my marriage, exercise, house, myself (and add in budgeting and party planning, etc etc).... it's exhausting.  I'm trying to remind myself to live life one day at a time.  "Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself".  That's hard to do when you are a planner.  When I do have time to myself at home (either when Maddox naps or goes to sleep at night), I find my brain so jumbled that I can't focus on getting anything done.  There are so many things I want to do but really I just end up napping or staring off into la la land (productive, right?).  Does anyone else do this?  I really need to figure out a better system to make good use of my time.  Or maybe what I really need is a vacation! :)

Moving to Wordpress
I have Wordpress and hosting with bluehost for my business website.  When I signed up, I went ahead and chose the option where I can have unlimited websites and domains.  I really want to make the switch to Wordpress for my blog but I have no idea how to go about doing this without losing everything I've done so far.  Any suggestions?  Also... right now I have my domain through google and I can't for the life of me figure out how to log in to get my domain information.  It's SO frustrating!  I kind of just want someone else to do it for me and tell me when it's done lol  I'm still having quite the learning curve with Wordpress in general but I think it's more customizable and I like that.... I like control :)  lol

Hair Styles
I NEED a new hair style.  I haven't had anything done to my hair since the week after Christmas.  It's the longest it's ever been.  While I love having it long, I have to keep it in a pony tail because Maddox grabs at it by the handful and the kid has quite the grip.  Also, I haven't been taking any vitamins and I guess my hormones are wack because I've been losing quite a bit of it.  So... I was perusing Pinterest and found a couple styles that I like.  I like my hair dark but I was thinking maybe some "highlights" of some sort would be good too.  And I know that you can never really go by the picture because they use a ton of product to make it look the way it does.  I can get the product to make it look good if I know what to get and when and what to use.  So...what do you think?  My hair is pretty fine.  You can kind of tell from the pictures of what I gravitate to style wise... except for the last 3 that would be a little crazy for me and I wouldn't do the blond thing... just looking at the style.  I really like the first one, fourth and fifth.  Thoughts?

Five on Friday

I haven't participated in Five on Friday or Oh Hey Friday in some time so thought I'd jump back in there!

Blogger Social
So I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and attending a Charlotte blogger/event planner social gathering at a country club in a couple weeks.  It's completely out of my element but I'm trying to stretch myself and I really want to meet some new people and network some.  I live in a little bubble right now :)  It's easy to put yourself out there when you're just writing behind the computer but actually meeting new people can be difficult for me.  Anyone else this way?

Melissa Smith Designs
If you are in the Charlotte area, now is a great time for family pictures (or senior pics or new headshots or pictures of your sweet babies)!  My website is up now.  I've still got some tweaking to do to it.  It was definitely a learning curve for me.  Check it out!  I'm also on Facebook.  I have a session next weekend and a couple other sessions coming up so I'm hoping to add a blog portion to my website to showcase those.  I'm hopeful and excited for the future.

My sweet Maddox
Baby boy got his DOC Band off for good yesterday.  Yay! It was a LONG 12 weeks! Whew! I'm going to do a separate post on it I think once I get the comparison pictures because the difference really is pretty crazy.  Now he just has to try not to bump his head on the crib rails and other things since he doesn't have that protection.  And what's a post about Maddox without pictures?

Thanks to the kind generosity of a friend, we are actually going to be able to take a vacation this year.  We are going to Florida in October and I can't wait!  That means I have 3 months to get my butt in gear.  While we are down there we are going to be able to meet up with a dear friend of mine from high school that also does photography so we are going to swap beach sessions :)  yay! I'm super bummed though because we were going to try to recreate one of my favorite pictures (that this same friend took) that we did down in Daytona with the ferris wheel in the background at sunset but they just took it down!  Boo!!
Ladies' Night Out
For the past several months, the ladies in my church life group class have set aside one night each month and gone out as a group (without husbands and children).  It has been so much fun!  Most of us (with exception of some great newbies) have been in class together for 10 years (woah! that's crazy to think about!) and while we have developed friendships with each other along the way, sometimes it's really hard to get to know each other when you just see them on Sundays and an occasional fellowship.  So the night out has been really great.  We've liked it so much that we are taking a ladies' beach trip at the end of August and I am so excited!  We go to a rather large church and really the only way to make it smaller is to become involved in a sunday school class or "life group" as we call it.  I encourage anyone who goes to any church to get involved in a group like that.
Well...that's all that's up right now (well...that I'm going to share anyway lol everything else is same ol' same ol' in my mind... "I'm out of shape, I should exercise" "man, being broke sucks").
